Maddy is a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow and Assistant Professor at the University of York and leads this research programme. She is also methodological lead for the Changing Realities programme. She specialises in food inequalities and is committed to a collaborative and policy-oriented approach to research. Maddy is the author of Hunger, Whiteness and Religion: An Inequality of Power and A Year Like No Other: Life on a Low-income during Covid-19.

Katie is a Lecturer in Mental Health with interests in the relationship between social security systems and mental health, as well as the broader socioeconomic context of mental health and stigma. She is the author of Fairer Welfare Systems for Better Mental Health: A New State of Mind and A Year Like No Other: Life on a Low-income during Covid-19.
